BOX SCORE

When All-Ivy middle Cathryn Quinn graduated, it was a fair question to ask if Princeton could find another 1-2 punch to challenge for the Ivy League title. It looks like the Tigers may have that answer, and they appear to be a true challenger for the league crown.

While All-Ivy senior Lydia Rudnick was her typical dominant self, freshman Kendall Peterkin continues to show what a force she could be in this league for the next three years. The two combined for 38 of Princeton's 62 kills in a 32-34, 25-19, 25-22, 25-19 victory over Columbia Friday night at Dillon Gym.

The victory keeps Princeton in a first-place tie with Yale, which topped Dartmouth 3-1 Friday night in Hanover. The Tigers will host Cornell Saturday at 5, while Yale travels to Harvard for a 5 pm showdown.

Princeton showed impressive resilience after an emotionally draining first set, which Columbia won on its sixth set ball. The Tigers bounced back in the second, and Peterkin led the charge. She was nearly unstoppable in the second, and that led the Tigers to a strong victory in the second. The third set was a tight battle throughout, but a combo block by Peterkin and Tiana Rudnick, followed by a Peterkin kill, gave the Tigers set point. A Rudnick putaway gave Princeton the set, and Tigers rode that momentum into a strong 25-19 win in the fourth.

Sophomore Ginny Willis recorded a double-double with 54 assists and 13 digs, while freshman Sarah Daschbach led the team with 19 digs. Both Peterkin and Rudnick had 13 digs apiece, and Peterkin added five aces in the process.

Sophomore Nicole Kincade added five blocks, while fellow sophomore middle Tiana Woolridge added three of her own. The two combined for 14 kills, while both Chelsea Parker and Sarah Hanna had four kills apiece.
