PRINCETON, N.J. (3/18/14) - The Princeton women's lacrosse team will play two games in California this week as the Tigers made the program's first trip to the West Coast. The Tigers' first stop is at Southern California on Wednesday. Opening draw is at 4 p.m. ET.

Princeton is 2-3 on the season after a big 15-13 win over No. 6 Virginia this past Saturday. It marked Princeton’s third ranked opponent of the season and first win against those ranked teams. Leading the Tigers on offense was sophomore Alexandra Bruno, who has 12 goals and four assists for 16 points. Junior Erin Slifer has eight goals and six assists for 14 points. Freshman Olivia Hompe and junior Erin McMunn have 12 points on six goals and six assists apiece. Freshman Anna Doherty is also in double digits with eight goals and two assists. Senior Sarah Lloyd, sophomore Anya Gersoff and senior Mary-Kate Sivilli are also scoring threats with nine, eight and seven points, respectively. Slifer and Lloyd have once again emerged as the leaders in the center circle and 13 and 10 draw controls, respectively. Lloyd is the team leader in ground balls as well with 10 and is second on the team in caused turnovers with five. Senior defender Colleen Smith has six caused turnovers, while sophomore defender Liz Bannantine has five to her credit. Senior Caroline Franke started in goal in the first four games and is 1-3 with a 12.03 goals against average and a .355 save percentage. Junior Annie Woehling earned the start against Virginia and is 1-0 with a 12.07 GAA and a .367 save percentage.

Princeton and Southern California met for the first time last year, with the Tigers winning an 18-13 game.

USC has a quick turnaround after hosting Columbia on Monday, and beating them 9-8. The Trojans are 3-2 overall having won their last three games, all at home. In both of the team’s losses, to Marist and Boston College, the differential was by three or fewer goals. Caroline Cordrey, Alex Moore and Caroline de Lyra are the team’s leading scorers. Cordrey has 12 goals, while Moore has 10 goals and one assist. de Lyra has a team-high six assists and adds four goals for 10 points. Annie Ruland, Michaela Michael and Amanda Johansen add nine points apiece. Johansen and Michael have the most draw controls on the team with 13 and 12 to their credit. Courtney Tarleton has a team-high seven caused turnovers. Liz Schaeffer has played in goal for all but nine minutes and has a 9.71 GAA, a .382 save percentage and leads the team in ground balls with 18.
