McGarvie Reilly '09 and Ellis '13 Begin Quest for the World Cup

PRINCETON, N.J. (7/9/13) - Princeton alums Holly McGarvie Reilly '09 and Sam Ellis '13 will play for the 2013 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Women's World Cup beginning July 11 in Oshawa, Canada (Ontario).

McGarvie Reilly has been a member of US Lacrosse program since 2006. This is her second FIL World Cup appearance, winning the gold medal in 2009 in the Czech Republic. She had five points at the 2009 World Cup, scoring three goals and two assists and ranked second on the team with 17 draw controls as a defender. A midfielder at Princeton, McGarvie Reilly was the 2009 Ivy League co-Player of the Year. She finished her career with two Tewaaraton Trophy nominations and four All-Ivy honors. McGarvie Reilly helped the Tigers to four NCAA Tournament appearances and is in the top-10 in Princeton history in points, assists and ground balls in a career.

Ellis is the part of the inaugural Israel national team. She played in every game this past season for the Tigers, scoring 16 goals and four assists. Ellis concluded her career with 70 points in 60 games, with 47 goals and 23 assists. She added 26 ground balls, 16 draw controls and seven caused turnovers, while converting 10 of 21 free-position attempts.

USA will play in Pool A, along with Australia, Canada, England and Wales. Israel is in Pool D with Scotland, Germany and Korea.

Following Pool play teams will be seeded into a championship bracket of 12 teams and a consolation bracket of seven teams. The championship bracket will be the teams in Pool A, the top 2 teams in Pools B, C and D and the next highest ranked team.
