A 12th inning Christian Venditti walk-off RBI single handed Georgetown a series sweep and the Princeton baseball team a 3-2 loss Sunday afternoon in Bethesda, Md.

The Tigers held a 10-8 hit differential and only committed one error to the Hoyas' pair, but it was not enough to over come their host in the series finale.

Nate Baird, Mike Ford and Steve Harrington each had two hits apiece, with Harrington and Peter Owens accounting for both runs off RBI at-bats.

Along with his production at the plate, starting pitcher Ford threw nine innings and struck out three, while giving up six hits and two runs. He ended with the no decision, as reliever Danny Thomson went 2.0 frames and gave up the game-winning run in the 12th.

Harrington propped Princeton to a 1-0 advantage off an RBI single to left field in the first, but the Tigers were unable to create a multi-run cushion before Georgetown knotted things up the next inning.

Princeton saw its next best chance to add to its lead in the third, stranding runners in a bases loaded situation.

Ford went three scoreless innings before Princeton reestablished a one-run lead. With runners on the corners, Owens hit an infield RBI single to put the Tigers up 2-1 in the seventh. It was their second three-hit inning, but Princeton was unable to extend the scoring and left two runners on base.

The Hoyas' managed to tie things up again in the eighth.

Princeton stranded a pair of runners in the top of the ninth, but Ford retired the side in the bottom half of the frame to force extra innings.

The Tigers suffered their second 12-inning loss of the year off Venditti's walk-off RBI single down the left field line.

Princeton (1-10) plays North Carolina on Tuesday, Mar. 19, before taking on Elon and UNC-Greensboro the following day in a twinbill.
