No. 18 Women's Lacrosse Looks to Extend Win Streak at Yale on Saturday

PRINCETON, N.J. (4/4/13) - The Princeton women's lacrosse team looks to extend its three-game win streak and stay atop the Ivy League standings when it visits Yale on Saturday, April 6. Game time is at noon at Reese Stadium.

EYE ON THE TIGERS
The Tigers are 6-3 overall and are ranked in the national polls for the first time this season. Princeton is ranked No. 18 in the IWLCA poll and No. 14 in the Inside Lacrosse poll. The Tigers are 3-0 in the Ivy League and coming off of a 12-10 win at No. 11 Cornell. Two of Princeton’s six wins have come against nationally-ranked teams (Johns Hopkins, Cornell) while all three losses have been to teams in the rankings as well (Georgetown, Virginia, Rutgers). The Tigers average 12.11 goals per game and are limiting teams to 9.44 gpg. They clear 81.4% of the time (105-129), set up teammates on 52.3% of the goals scored (57-109) and are 11 for 23 (47.8%) from the eight-meter arc.

The co-Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week Erin McMunn leads the team in scoring with 23 goals and 17 assists for 40 points. Freshman Alexandra Bruno has 20 points on 18 goals and two helpers. Junior Sarah Lloyd adds eight goals and 10 assists and leads the team in draw controls with 27 and ground balls with 16. Senior Charlotte Davis chips in 12 goals and four assists. Senior Jaci Gassaway, freshman Anya Gersoff, junior Mary-Kate Sivilli and sophomore Erin Slifer have 15 points apiece. Senior Caroline Rehfuss and freshman Liz Bannantine have 13 and 12 caused turnovers, respectively. The Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week, Caroline Franke is 5-2 in goal and has started the last five games. She has a 9.33 goals against average and a .455 save percentage with 45 saves on 99 shots.

THE SERIES
Princeton owns a 24-14-1 edge in the all-time series with Yale, which began in 1975. The Tigers have won the last five meetings in the series by an average of seven goals per game (11-4). Princeton took a 12-4 game last season. Yale’s last win was April 2007, a 6-5 game. Since 1992, Princeton is 19-2 in the series.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Yale is 6-4 on the season and is riding a two-game win streak after defeating Cal 10-7 and Lehigh 16-8 last weekend. The Bulldogs are 0-3 in the league with losses to Dartmouth (10-6), Penn (12-8) and Harvard (10-5).

Devon Rhodes leads the team in scoring with 23 goals and 13 assists for 36 points. Nicole Danieggelis, who is the Ivy League co-Offensive Player of the Week, has 22 goals and two assists and leads the team in draws with 46. Jen DeVito also has 24 points on 12 goals and assists each. Kerri Fleishhacker, Cathryn Avallone and Erin Magnuson have contributed 17 points apiece. Christina Doherty has a team-high 25 ground balls, team-high nine caused turnovers and is second on the team in draws with 22. Erin McMullan has played every minute in goal. She has a 10.40 GAA and a .402 save percentage, making 70 stops on 174 shots.
