Princeton Hosts Brown in Women's Lax Ivy League Opener Saturday

PRINCETON, N.J. (3/8/13) - The Ivy League season gets underway for the Princeton women's lacrosse team on Saturday, March 9 when the Tigers host Brown at Sherrerd Field at Class of 1952 Stadium.

Eye on the Tigers
Princeton is 2-1 overall and is receiving votes in both national polls. The Tigers are coming off of an 18-13 win over USC from Sunday and is 2-0 when playing at home.

Erin McMunn leads the team offensively with 10 points on six goals and four assists. Freshman Anya Gersoff and junior Mary-Kate Sivilli also have six goals apiece, with Gersoff adding two assists. Junior Sarah Lloyd has six assists, all coming in the USC game. Senior Charlotte Davis and freshman Alexandra Bruno have five points apiece with four goals and one assist each. Lloyd also leads the team in draw controls and ground balls with 13 and six, respectively. Freshman Liz Bannantine and senior Caroline Rehfuss have eight and six caused turnovers, respectively. Sophomore Annie Woehling is 1-1 in goal with a .350 save percentage and a 9.58 goals against average. Junior Caroline Franke is 1-0 with a .625 save percentage and a 10.51 GAA.

The Series
Princeton leads the all-time series 31-3 since it began in 1980. The Tigers have won the last 22 meetings with Brown’s last win coming in 1991.

Scouting the Bears
The Bears come to Princeton with an undefeated 3-0 record. Brown defeated George Mason 15-10, Manhattan 10-4 and Columbia 11-10 in three overtimes. The Bears average 12 goals a game and are holding teams to eight. The have converted on just seven of 20 free-position attempts (35%), but have won 65% of the draw controls.

Bre Hudgins is the team leader on offense. She has scored 10 goals and adds three assists for 13 points. Hudgins adds 11 draw controls, six ground balls and two caused turnovers. Abby Bunting as scored seven goals has a team-high eight ground balls. Janie Gion has six goals and one assists. Tara Rooke has a team-high four assists to go along with two goals. Grace Healey has a team-high 15 draw controls, five ground balls and two goals. Erin Roos and Hanna Organschi have four caused turnovers each, the most on the team. Kellie Roddy has started in goal in all three games. She has a 7.03 GAA and a .400 save percentage. Victoria Holland has seen limited time and has a .571 save percentage and a 14.23 GAA in 13 minutes of play.
