BALTIMORE (1/29/13) - Princeton alum Holly McGarvie Reilly '09 has been named the 2013 US women's national team, it was announced by US Lacrosse on Tuesday, Jan. 29.

Team USA will defend the 2009 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Cup in Canada as he tried to win its seventh overall world title.

McGarvie Reilly has been with the US Lacrosse organization since 2006. She became a member of the national team in 2009 and helped the team win the 2009 FIL Women's World Cup.

At Princeton, McGarvie Reilly was named the 2009 Ivy League co-Player of the Year, and is just the third player in the Princeton history to earn Rookie and Player of the Year honors during a career. McGarvie Reilly finished her career with two Tewaaraton Trophy nominations, two All-America honors and four All-Ivy honors. McGarvie Reilly helped her team to four NCAA Tournament appearances and is in the top-10 in Princeton history in points, assists and ground balls in a career. She was also a four-year letterwinner on the field hockey team.

"Today is one of the most exciting and most challenging days I've experienced as a coach," said U.S. women's national team coach Ricky Fried. "Our staff made some tough decisions in narrowing this incredible group of players down to the 18 we feel will give us the best chance to defend gold this summer, and we couldn't be happier with the group we've selected. The commitment and sacrifices of all 78 players who have been a part of the U.S. women's team program since the last World Cup has laid a strong foundation for the success we hope to realize this summer. We're thrilled to continue working with this team to bring home a seventh gold medal for the United States."

Team USA will reconvene for an exhibition against Team Canada at the 2013 US Lacrosse Women’s National Tournament, May 24-26 at Lehigh University. After two training camps in Baltimore (June 26-July 2) and Buffalo, N.Y. (July 5-7), the team will travel to Oshawa for the World Cup.
