Navy Tops Men's Water Polo Team in Southern Semifinals
ANNAPOLIS (11/9/13) – The 15th-ranked Princeton men’s water polo team had its six-game win streak come to an end in a 12-10 loss to Navy on Saturday night in the semifinals of the CWPA Southern Championship. Princeton fell behind in the second quarter and found itself playing catch up over the entre second half.
Kayj Shannon scored three goals to lead the Princeton offense and also drew three ejections. Thomas Nelson, Drew Hoffenberg and Jovan Jeremic all scored twice in the loss with Sam Butler adding two assists and three steals. Alex Gow made nine saves in the loss.
Princeton scored the games first goal but trailed 4-3 at the half. Navy extended the lead in the third quarter and generally held a two-goal lead throughout the second half.
The Tigers will now play for third place at Southerns tomorrow at 2:20 p.m., against Mercyhurst.
