Senior Weekend for Women's Hockey as Tigers Host Colgate & Cornell

PRINCETON, N.J. (2/6/13) - It's Senior Weekend for the Princeton women's hockey team as the Tigers pay tribute to Kelly Cooke, Alex Kinney and Corey Stearns while hosting Colgate and Cornell. The Tigers face Colgate on Friday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m, and fourth-ranked Cornell on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 4 p.m.

Princeton will host a Skate with the Tigers following Saturday's game with Cornell and Tiger fans are invited to join the team on the ice following the game for skating and autographs. Additionally fams at the game will receive a Tiger bobblehead courtesy of Princeton University Dining Services while supplies last.

Eye on the Tigers
The Tigers enter the weekend on a three-game winning streak after sweeping Yale and Brown last weekend in league play. Princeton is 9-12-2 overall and 4-10-2 in the ECAC to sit eighth in the standings. Seniors Corey Stearns and Kelly Cooke both have 20+ points to lead the team offensively. Stearns has 26 points on four goals and 22 assists, while Cooke has 21 points on 12 goals and nine assists. Junior Sally Butler adds 14 points on seven goals and assists each. Sophomore Brianna Leahy contributes 13 points and senior Alex Kinney and junior Olivia Mucha chip in 11 and 10 respectively. Freshman Kimberly Newell has started in 20 games in goal. She has a .914 save percentage and a 2.91 goals against average.

Princeton/Colgate Series
Princeton is 21-6-3 all-time against Colgate and holds a 12-3-1 edge in games played at Hobey Baker Rink. Princeton and Colgate have split their games in each of the last four seasons. Earlier this season, the teams played to a 3-3 tie.

Scouting the Raiders
Colgate is 8-16-3 overall and 3-10-3 in the ECAC to sit one place behind Princeton in the standings at ninth. The Raiders split last weekend, falling 4-1 to RPI and defeating Union 3-1. Seniors Brittany Phillips and Jenna Klynstra both have 16 points to lead the team in scoring. Phillips has nine goals and seven assists while Klynstra has a team-high 11 assists and five goals. Junior Jocelyn Simpson adds 13 points and Miriam Drubel has 12. Drubel is the team’s leading scorer in league games with eight points in 16 games. Junior Megan Wickens leads the defense in points with 10 assists. Freshman Ashlynne Rando has started in 19 games in goal and has a 6-10-3 record, an .898 save percentage and a 3.13 GAA. Sophomore Susan Allen has made eight starts and is 2-6 with an .865 save percentage and a 4.41 GAA.

Princeton/Cornell Series
Princeton leads the all-time series with Cornell 40-28-3 and is 21-11-3 in games played at Hobey Baker Rink. The Big Red though carries a seven-game win streak in the series including a 4-0 win in Ithaca back in November.

Scouting the Big Red
Cornell is riding an eight-game win streak and is ranked fourth in the nation with a 19-4 overall record. The team is second in the league standings at 14-2 with losses to Harvard and Clarkson. Junior Brianne Jenner is the league’s leading scorer with 50 points on 26 goals and 24 assists. Sophomore Jillian Saulnier isn’t far behind with 39 points on nine goals and 30 assists. Junior Jessica Campbell and defenders Hayleigh Cudmore and Lauriane Rougeau all have 17 points. Junior netminder Lauren Slebodnick has started in 20 games and has a 16-4 record with a 1.50 GAA and a .927 save percentage.
