CANTON, N.Y. (11/16/12) - Sophomore Tyler Maugeri had a hand in each Princeton goal as the Tigers skated to a 3-3 tie with No. 16 St. Lawrence at Appleton Arena on Friday, Nov. 16.

Maugeri scored the game-tying goal, the Tigers second goal and assisted on the first goal as Princeton stays unbeaten in the ECAC at 2-0-1 and are now 2-2-1 overall.

The Saints wasted no time getting on the board as Chris Martin scored one minute into the game. Kyle Flanagan stole the puck at the blue line and went up the ice with Martin on a two-on-one. Flanagan gave Martin the puck on the left wing and he put it away for the early 1-0 lead.

St. Lawrence grabbed a 2-0 lead as it converted on its second power-play opportunity at 14:52 of the first. George Hughes rifled a shot under the cross bar from the point with Greg Carey and Justin Bakr assisting.

Princeton wouldn't go into the locker room without a goal as senior defender Michael Sdao scored with 12 seconds left. The Tigers power-play unit, ranked fourth in the nation, converted on their first opportunity as Maugeri and junior Andrew Ammon teamed up to find Sdao for his second tally of the season.

Maugeri tied the game with the only goal of the second period at 16:58. He got a step on a defender, cut to the goal and lifted the puck under the crossbar. Junior Jack Berger and senior Eric Meland received assist credits.

St. Lawrence regained the lead on a Greg Carey goal at 5:26 of the third as he had a two-on-one chance with teammate Tommy Thompson.

Maugeri came through with the tying goal at 11:40. A hit in the corner knocked the puck free and Andrew Calof and Ammon found Maugeri open in front of the net. Maugeri was able to tuck the puck around netminder Matt Weninger.

Neither team scored the rest of the way although both had power-play chances and the Saints hit a pair of posts. SLU also had a power-play chance in overtime, but again could not convert. Ammon would have the only shot on goal in the extra session, with Weninger making the stop.

Weninger finished the game with 23 saves as St. Lawrence remains winless in the league at 0-1-2 and 5-2-2 overall.

Senior Mike Condon made 20 saves for the Tigers on the opposite end.

Princeton was 1 for 3 on the power play and 7 for 8 on the penalty kill.

Princeton faces Clarkson tomorrow, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m., at Cheel Arena. Across town tonight, Clarkson lost 5-2 to Quinnipiac.
