PRINCETON, N.J. (4/5/14) - The Princeton women's lacrosse team earned its sixth consecutive win as it handed Yale a 15-8 game on Saturday, April 5 on Sherrerd Field at Class of 1952 Stadium as the Tigers improve to 7-3 on the season and 3-1 in the Ivy League.

Princeton looked nearly perfect in the first half as they took a 9-1 lead. The only goal the Bulldogs could score was a man-up free-position goal. The Tigers defense was unstoppable as it forced Yale into a turning the ball over on six of its 10 clears and 12 total turnovers. A heavy double team and face guarding limited Yale to just seven shots in the first half, while the Tigers' attack rattled off 23.

"The first half was phenomenal," head coach Chris Sailer said. "It was the best half of lacrosse that we've played in a while. Our defense did a phenomenal job. We knew what Yale was looking for and we were able to shut it down. Our ride was tremendous and we forced them into so many turnovers in transition."

The nation's fourth-leading draw control leader Nicole Daniggelis helped sparked Yale's offense in the second half as she helped the team win 10 of 14 draws in the second 30 minutes. Daniggelis finished the game with eight draws and now has 82 on the season.

The Bulldogs offense generated 15 shots and scored on seven of them as the team outshot Princeton 15-10 and outscored Princeton 7-6 in the second half.

Junior Annie Woehling made six of her nine saves in that second half as she picked up her sixth win of the season.

All nine of Erin McMullin's saves came in the first half as her team drops to 7-4 on the season and 1-3 in league play.

Junior Erin McMunn lead the Tigers in scoring with four goals and one assist as she extends her scoring streak to 109 points in 30 games. Sophomore Alexandra Bruno and junior Erin Slifer each had four-point games while senior Mary-Kate Sivillihad a three-point game. In the end seven Tigers found their way into the scoring column as freshman Anna Doherty scored twice with freshman Olivia Hompe and sophomore Anya Gersoff scoring one goal apiece.

"Something we really wanted to emphasize this week was that we know everything we need to know, now we need to start implementing it, and I think we did a great job with that today," senior co-captain and defender Colleen Smith said.

Princeton had support in the stands on Alumnae Day. At halftime the 1994 national champions and the 2004 national runners-up with both honored. In addition, Princeton dedicated today's game to the Lucy Fund for Metastatic Breast Cancer Research.

Princeton faces No. 2 Maryland at home on Wednesday night, April 9 at 7 p.m.
