LOS ANGELES, Calif. (3/19/14) - The Princeton women's lacrosse team doubled up Southern California by a 14-7 score on Wednesday, March 19. The Tigers were led by freshman Anna Doherty who had a career-best five-goal game, and added an assist for six points as Princeton improved to 3-3 on the season.

Senior Sarah Lloyd had a three-point effort on two goals and an assist. Senior Mary-Kate Sivilli and junior Erin Slifer both scored twice. Junior Erin McMunn kept her 20+ game scoring streak alive with a tally. Junior Annie Woehling made seven saves in her second start of the season.

The first half was all about runs. Princeton opened with two goals and USC matched those two goals five minutes later. A three-goal run by the Tigers over a span of 3:52 gave Princeton its last lead, 5-2. USC halted the run with back-to-back goals but Doherty's second tally of the game would finish off the scoring in the first half.

Princeton continued to pad its lead as Slifer and Doherty both scored in the first three minutes of the second half, 8-4.

USC would get within three on two occassions at 20:55 (8-5) and 14:02 (9-6)  but it would be as close as it would get.

Another 3-0 run by the Tigers midway through the half with goals from Lloyd, McMunn and Sivilli put the game out of reach for the Trojans, at 12-6 with 8:01 on the clock.

A free-position goal would be the only tally for USC in the final 14 minutes of the game, as the stingy Princeton defense went to work.

Meanwhile sophomore Anya Gersoff and Doherty added to the Tigers' goal total to settle the final score 14-7.

Caroline de Lyra led USC with two goals and an assist. Michaela Michael and Alex Moore both scored twice. In goal, Liz Schaeffer made four saves in the Trojans' first loss in four games as USC drops to 3-3.

Princeton outshot USC 26-17 and won three more draw controls, 13-10.

Princeton will cap its trip to the West Coast on Saturday, March 22 when it takes on San Diego State at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT. The game will take place at Cathedral Catholic High School in San Diego.
