Princeton's fencing and field hockey teams Monday visited the White House, where they attended a speech by President Obama on the South Lawn of the residence to recognize 19 NCAA championship teams from the 2012-13 academic year.

Princeton was one of just three schools to send two teams to the event, along with North Carolina and USC. The Tiger field hockey team defeated North Carolina in fall 2012 to win its first NCAA title, and in March 2013, the men's and women's fencing teams combined to win the program's first joint NCAA championship.

The field hockey and fencing team titles were two of the four NCAA championships that Princeton won in 2012-13 along with the men's distance medley relay title and the individual saber title for Eliza Stone '13.

President Obama's meeting with the fencing team was chosen as the White House "Photo of the Day". To view the photo, click here.
