COMPLETE RESULTS

A very close and competitive indoor track & field ended with the host Navy Midshipmen holding on for a 94-87 victory over Princeton, which was competing for the first time in nearly a month.

Princeton took three of the top four spots in the 60-meter dash, with John Hill posting the second-place finish in 6.99. Dré Nelson was third in 7.09, and Fiyinfoluwa Akinlawon rounded out the trio with a fourth-place finish in 7.14.

Tom Hopkins had a pair of strong performances in the 200 and 400; he won the latter in 48.38, and he finished second in the 200 in 22.00. Both times were fast enough to qualify for IC4As. Jordan Myers placed fourth in the 500 in 1:07.99.

As the distances grew, Princeton got stronger. Michael Williams was a Tiger winner, taking the 800 in 1:52.72; that time was more than 1.5 seconds faster than anybody in the field. Princeton went 1-2-3 in the 1000, with Luke Brahm leading the way in 2:30.59. William Paulson was second in 2:30.72, while David Pugliese was third in 2:32.64.

Sam Pons (4:13.11) and Alejandro Arroyo Yamin (4:14.48) went 1-2 in the mile, while Chris Bendtsen won the mile in 8:22.91. Jack Leahey was the top Princeton finisher in the 5000, placing third in 15:17.38.

Princeton's Gregory Caldwell finished second in the 60 meter hurdles in 8.46.

Princeton went 2-3 in the 4x400 relay, with the top Tiger team of Daniel McCord, Bryant Switzer, Jabari Johnson and Peter Mennin finishing in 3:21.47. The Tigers did take the top spot in the 4x800, as the quartet of Brahm, Christopher Crawford, Williams and Tyler Udland won by more than seven seconds in 7:50.98.

The Tigers won two of the six field events, including a win for Omar Jarrett (2.04m) in the high jump. Scott Rushton led a 1-2-3 finish in the shot put with a throw of 16.96m; Chris Cook (15.92m) and Jared Bell (15.71m) took the next two spots.

Third-place finishers in their respective events included Ben Gaylord (pole vault • 4.65m) and Jake Scinto (long jump • 6.62m and triple jump • 13.62m). Jake Taylor finished fourth in the weight throw (14.63m).

Princeton will compete one more time before breaking for finals later this month. The Tigers will head to The Armory in New York City Friday to compete at the NYC Gotham Cup.
