Coming off the program’s first NCAA national championship, the Princeton field hockey team will welcome five student-athletes to join the Tigers for the 2013 campaign. Head coach Kristen Holmes-Winn will announce each member of the Class of 2017 individually, so be sure to tune into GoPrincetonTigers.com over the coming weeks to meet the newest additions to the program.
"When you read the individual athlete bio and their comments on why they chose Princeton, you will see a theme: team, family and a winning tradition," said Holmes-Winn. "Our incoming freshmen recognize that when everyone is committed to giving their best and is willing to put the best interest of the team first happiness, success and trust follow. We are very lucky to have found five exceptional young women devoted to becoming their best in all areas of their life. We welcome Cat Caro, Annabeth Donovan, Ellen Dobrijevic, Andrea Jenkins and Hailey Reeves into the Tiger family and look forward to watching their talents unfold in the classroom, in the community and on the hockey field!"
The final member of the incoming class to be introduced is midfielder/forward Andrea Jenkins from Princeton, N.J.
“Andrea lives down the road so I've had the pleasure of admiring her abilities up close for many years! She is a fluid attacker with pace, field sense and the ability to eliminate. Andrea comes from a family of athletes, her dad played football at Duke and her sisters, Sydney and Mariel play field hockey and lacrosse, respectively at Harvard. Her mom is also a Princetonian. We are excited to finally welcome Andrea to the team this August,” said Holmes-Winn.
Jenkins was a four-year starter at Princeton Day School. She served as team captain and earned PDS MVP honors as a senior. Jenkins earned All-State Prep First Team accolades from 2009-12 and was a Central Jersey Field Hockey Coaches’ Association First Team selection in 2012. She also was a three-year letterwinner in lacrosse and served as team captain as a junior.
“I chose Princeton for its commitment to celebrating student-athletes as they balance an engaging academic experience and highly competitive athletics. I was also drawn the Princeton’s rich and unique traditions,” said Jenkins.
She played club field hockey for Jersey Intensity for five years. The squad won gold at the National Festival in 2009 and 2012, while medaling at the Disney tournaments from 2009-12. She has earned multiple National Futures Championship selections, was a participant in 2008 and participated in a pair of NITs.
