Coming off the program’s first NCAA national championship, the Princeton field hockey team will welcome five student-athletes to join the Tigers for the 2013 campaign. Head coach Kristen Holmes-Winn will announce each member of the Class of 2017 individually, so be sure to tune into GoPrincetonTigers.com over the coming weeks to meet the newest additions to the program.

"When you read the individual athlete bio and their comments on why they chose Princeton, you will see a theme: team, family and a winning tradition," said Holmes-Winn. "Our incoming freshmen recognize that when everyone is committed to giving their best and is willing to put the best interest of the team first happiness, success and trust follow. We are very lucky to have found five exceptional young women devoted to becoming their best in all areas of their life.  We welcome Cat Caro, Annabeth Donovan, Ellen Dobrijevic, Andrea Jenkins and Hailey Reeves into the Tiger family and look forward to watching their talents unfold in the classroom, in the community and on the hockey field!"

The first member of the incoming class to be introduced is forward Hailey Reeves from West Vancouver, British Columbia.

“I am thrilled to introduce Hailey Reeves to Tiger field hockey fans,” said Holmes-Winn. “Hailey has been exposed to great coaching at every level and is not afraid of hard work. She balances a very rigorous course load along with significant extracurricular activities, all while achieving nationally within her sport. Clearly, Hailey and Princeton are meant for one another!”

A four-year starter and two-time team captain, Reeves helped guide Collingwood School to the BC AA Provincial Championships all four years. The squad won gold medals in 2010 and 2012, and silver in 2009 and 2011. A First Team All-Star as a junior and senior, the forward also led CS to the Friendship Cup and Northshore AAA Banner championships.

“After visiting Princeton and meeting with the coaches and the team, I knew it was the perfect fit for me athletically and academically. I felt at home,” said Reeves.

The striker has been a regular member of the Canadian youth national system. A current member Women’s National Under 17 Squad, in 2012-13 Reeves was selected to the Junior National Center of Excellence training program and to the U21 Junior National Identification Camp. She also played against her new teammates at the Canada-USA series with the U17 team.

Reeves played club field hockey for the West Vancouver Adanacs, helping the team to pool victories at the U.S. U19 Festival in 2010 and 2011. The squad was the U18 BC Provincial team representative at nationals in 2011 and 2012, winning silver and bronze medals, respectively. Reeves and the Adanacs also won gold at the Western Canada Summer Games.

A two-time recipient of the Board of Governor’s Scholarship award for boasting the highest academic average, Reeves was also a three-year starter on the tennis team. She was a captain as a senior and the team was BC AA Provincial champions from 2010-12.
