BOX SCORE

Sophomore Cody Kessel missed about a month of the season because of injury, but he appears to be rounding into form at the perfect time for the men's volleyball team.

Kessel followed Friday night's double-double at Harvard by recording 10 kills, four blocks and two digs in a 25-21, 25-18, 25-13 victory at Sacred Heart Saturday evening. He hit .409 for Princeton, which moved to 11-8 overall, 9-4 in EIVA play.

The win was especially important for Princeton as it continues to position itself for the EIVA postseason. The four teams for the EIVA postseason are set, as Penn State will serve as host for Princeton, Harvard and George Mason. Penn State will be the first seed, and George Mason will be in the opposite semifinal as the top-seeded Nittany Lions.

That leaves the two Ivy League programs battling for the final two spots. Princeton controls its own destiny; if the Tigers defeat Mason April 20 at Dillon Gym (4 pm), they will earn a rematch with the Patriots five days later at Rec Hall in State College. If Princeton loses that match and Harvard wins out, the Tigers will be the fourth seed and will play Penn State.

Princeton got seven kills and three blocks from senior captain Michael Dye, while junior Pat Schwagler added four kills, four digs and four blocks. Junior setter Davis Waddell had 30 assists, four digs, three kills and three blocks, while sophomore libero Tony Ensbury had a team-best eight digs.

Princeton will host Juniata Tuesday night at 7 pm.
