Princeton field hockey head coach Kristen Holmes-Winn was named the 2012 Dita/NFHCA Mid-Atlantic Region Coach of the Year, it was announced Wednesday by the NFHCA. This is the first national coaching honor at Princeton for Holmes-Winn.

In 2012, Holmes-Winn guided the Tigers to a perfect 7-0 record in Ivy League play, conceding only one goal to conference opponents, to capture their eighth consecutive Ivy title and advance to the NCAA Championship. Behind two come-from-behind efforts and an overtime match, the Tigers won their first-ever NCAA National Championship and concluded the year with a program-best 21-1 record.

Under her tutelage, Katie Reinprecht was named the Honda Sports Award winner, Longstreth/NFHCA and Mid-Atlantic Player of the Year, and the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year. Kathleen Sharkey earned Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year honors and Teresa Benvenuti was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Year. Five players were named All-America and to the NCAA All-Tournament Team, and 10 players were named both All-Ivy and All-Region.

In 10 seasons at Princeton, Holmes-Winn is 131-57 (.697) all-time and boasts a 66-5 (.930) Ivy record. During that span, the program has won nine Ivy titles, advancing to the NCAA Tournament eight times, including two Final Four appearances.

The 2012 Dita/NFHCA Division I National Coach of the Year will be announced by the NFHCA on Monday, Dec. 17.
