Penn Rallies Past Volleyball In Another Five-Set Thriller
You wouldn't assume anything less from a Penn-Princeton volleyball match. The Penn women's volleyball team rallied from a 2-0 hole to defeat Princeton 3-2 in front of an excited Dillon Gym crowd Friday night.
Princeton took the opening sets 25-18 and 27-25, but Penn made a huge push late in the third set to grab a 25-23 victory. Penn built on that momentum for a 25-17 victory in the fourth and held a big lead in the fifth. Princeton battled back and had a swing to tie the match, but freshman Kendall Peterkin sent her attack just wide.
Princeton is now 6-2 in the league and will need Yale to lose at least one other match to have a shot at a battle for first on Nov. 5 in Dillon Gym.
Sophomore Tiana Woolridge had one of the best matches of her career, recording 18 kills and six blocks for the Tigers. Freshman Kendall Peterkin added 16 kills, while senior Lydia Rudnick had 15. Freshman Sarah Daschbach led the defense with 20 digs, while sophomore setter Ginny Willis had a double-double with 56 assists and 14 digs.
Princeton will remain home next weekend to take on Dartmouth and Harvard.
