Princeton Field Hockey doesn't have many "firsts" left. With a long history of success on the field and in the classroom, new milestones are hard to come by but we actually have a big one to report. Next week, the US Women's National Team travels to Terrassa, Spain just outside of Barcelona to play in the 4-Nations Tournament as part of its preparation for the Olympics. For the first time ever, Princeton has placed more players on a national team tournament squad than any other university with five Tigers represented on the National Team. Maren Langford '06 and current players Michelle Cesan '14, Katie Reinprecht '13, Julia Reinprecht '14 and Kat Sharkey '13 will play six matches in nine days, facing host Spain, Great Britain and Belgium.

"Selection for tours is always a highly competitive process," said head coach Kristen Holmes-Winn. "It is great to see that all of our Tigers will have the opportunity to compete during such acrucial phase in the team's preparation toward the Olympic games. We are so proud of all of their achievements and of how honorably they are representing our program, the University and the country."

"I am very excited to go to Spain," said Sharkey. "We have been very busy these past few months with lots of practices, lifts and runs. I am looking forward to seeing our hard work pay off with some wins in Spain!"

Sharkey has had some significant success against two of the countries she will be facing in Spain. In August against Belgium, she scored not only her first international goal, but also what turned out to be the game winner in a 3-0 Team USA victory. Against Great Britain, during a five-match test series in December, she also notched a goal in a 5-2 defeat in match four. Reinprecht made it on the scoreboard as well against Great Britain, scoring twice in a 3-2 defeat in match two.

The Spain tour will be the first international competition for theteam since late October when they won gold and qualified for the Olympics at the Pan Am Games in Guadalajara, Mexico. For match reports, highlights and photos from Spain, check out www.usafieldhockey.com.
