Ivy Champion Field Hockey Welcomes Class of 2018: Meet Danielle Duseau
After the 2013 season yielded another Ivy League championship trophy and NCAA Elite Eight appearance, the Princeton field hockey team will welcome five student-athletes to join the Tigers for the 2014 campaign.
“We are thrilled to welcome the Class of 2018,” said head coach Kristen Holmes-Winn. “They are a group of young women who thrive in competitive environments and have proven that they have the will and determination to rise to both the academic and athletic challenges inherent in the Princeton experience."
"They separated themselves during the recruiting process by their close alignment to the values of our program and a clear passion for all things Tiger Field Hockey. We are excited to see their talents unfold in the years to come,” Holmes-Winn added.
Princeton field hockey will announce each member of the Class of 2018 individually, so be sure to tune into GoPrincetonTigers.com over the next two weeks to meet the newest additions to the program.
The second member of the incoming class to be introduced is defender Danielle Duseau from Hatfield, Mass.
A four-year starter and senior captain, Duseau helped guide Smith Academy to a pair of Western MA titles and state semifinals berths in 2008 and 2013.
Named the Field Hockey Athlete of the Year by the Daily Hampshire Gazette and Springfield Republican in 2012, Duseau represented her club, Element Athletics at the National Festival, Disney and NIT events.
No stranger to international competition, Duseau was a member of the USA U-17 Junior National Team (2012, 2013) that toured the Netherlands in 2013, before making the step up to the U-19 squad for the 2013-14 season.
Holmes-Winn on Duseau
"Danielle is a steely competitor who possesses an enormous amount of personal discipline. She is at her best under pressure against top level competition. Her solid fundamentals and strong hockey IQ are a by-product of her meticulous training habits, commitment to learning and overarching desire to maximize her potential. Danielle is a natural leader and communicator and she possesses a commanding field presence. Dani will make a seamless transition to the collegiate environment."
