Melisa Meccage enters her ninth season as an assistant coach with the Princeton field hockey. Meccage joined the Princeton coaching staff in 2003 after two seasons as an assistant coach at Iowa. Meccage also played for the Hawkeyes, where she was a teammate of Princeton head coach Kristen Holmes-Winn.

In seven seasons at Princeton, Meccage has helped lead the Tigers to six Ivy League titles and five NCAA tournament appearances. Princeton is 86-43 in the span and holds a 46-3 record in Ivy League games during the stretch. Princeton reached the NCAA Quarterfinals in three of the tournament appearances and was a semifinalist last season.

In two seasons as an assistant at Iowa, Meccage helped guide the Hawkeyes to an overall record of 24-13. Prior to returning to her alma mater in 2001, Meccage spent a season as an assistant coach at Virginia, where she helped the Cavaliers to a 14-8 record and an appearance in the NCAA tournament.

Before that, Meccage was the head instructional coach at St. Mary's Hall in San Antonio, Texas, where she was responsible for the development and instruction of the varsity, junior varsity and middle school teams.

Meccage was a two-time All-America during four years playing with the Hawkeyes. At the end of her senior season, she was named the 1997 Big Ten Field Hockey Athlete of the Year. She was also a two-time first-team All-Big Ten performer.
In 1997, Meccage was named to the U.S. National Team and won a bronze medal with the Under-21 National Team at the Junior Pan American games. After graduation she travelled to Argentina to play with the Club Universitario de Argentina de Tucuman and was also an assistant coach with the club.

A native of Palmyra, Pa., Meccage is also a member of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. She is married to former Iowa baseball player Jeremy Meccage, who works as an assistant coach for the Princeton baseball team and is President of Zag Sports, Inc., an international sports touring company.
