Frankin & Bendtsen Kick Off Sam Howell Invitational with Distance Wins

PRINCETON, N.J. (4/5/13) – Junior Chris Bendtsen and senior Michael Franklin both posted wins as the 2013 Sam Howell Memorial Invitational got underway today, April 5 at Weaver Stadium.

Bendtsen won the 10,000-meter run with a time of 29:32.15. Junior Tyler Udland was third at 29:44.86. Bendsten and Udland were the only two Princeton runners in the event and both finished in the top three in an event that featured 27 competitors.

Franklin beat of 63 others in the 5,000. Franklin ran 14:14.04 for the win.

Sophomore Eddie Owens took fourth in the steeplechase, covering the 3k in 9:05.67.

In the 1500, freshman David Pugliese was the top Tiger across the line at 3:55.36.

A second Division of the 10k was also run. Freshman Michael Sublette was the runner-up at 31:11.93 while freshman Brett Kelly was third at 31:13.30.

The meet continues tomorrow at noon with the shot put, long jump and pole vault. The first running event will be the 4x100 relay at 12:10 p.m.

At the Pepsi Florida Relays, senior Austin Hollimon competed in the 400-meter hurdles. Hollimon made the lap in 53.62.
