PRINCETON, N.J. (2/2/13) - Freshman Molly Contini recorded her first career hat trick to lead the Princeton women's hockey team to a 6-1 win over Brown on Saturday, Feb. 2 at Hobey Baker Rink. The Tigers have now won three straight games.

Senior Kelly Cooke had a three-point game with one goal and two helpers. Sophomore Brianna Leahy tallied two goals and senior Corey Stearns had two assists.

Contini got the offense started with a goal in the first six minutes. Cooke fired on a pass from junior Gabie Figueroa and Contini got the rebound and put it behind Aubree Moore in goal.

Leahy earned the game winner and gave Princeton a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period when she got the puck from behind the net from junior Alex Kinney and buried it.

Laurie Jolin scored Brown's only goal of the game, converting on its first power-play opportunity of the second period with help from Jennifer Nedow and Jessica Hoyle.

Cooke answered with a power-play goal 1:11 later when she beat Moore 1x1 on a pass from Stearns.

Contini finished off the second period with goals at 9:43 and 12:42 as Princeton took a 5-1 lead into the locker room.

Leahy net her second of the game at 10:04 of the third from the left point that hit the crossbar and dropped behind the line.

Freshman Kimberly Newell made 24 saves as Princeton improves to 9-12-2 overall and 4-10-2 in the ECAC to sit in eighth place in the standings.

Moore made 26 stops for Brown, who drops to 4-16-1 and 3-13 in the league.

Princeton was 1 for 4 on the power play and 4 for 5 on the penalty, and outshot Brown 32-25.

The Tigers face Colgate and No. 5 Cornell next weekend at home on Feb. 8 & 9.
