Current, Former Tigers Set to Compete in Pan-Am in Costa Rica
Four current and former Princeton fencers are set to compete in Costa Rica for the Pan-American Championships June 1-6.
Sophomore epee Anna Van Brummen, junior epee Katharine Holmes and saberist Eliza Stone '13 will fence both individually and while representing the U.S. in the team competition. A year ago, Holmes and Stone were individual silver-medal finishers while each won gold in the team competition. Jonathan Yergler '13 will fence in the men's epee competition.
Holmes and Van Brummen will start with the individual epee competition June 1 before the team competition comes June 4. Stone's individual event will take place June 2 with the team bouts set for June 5.
Van Brummen is a two-time first-team All-Ivy League honoree, while Holmes has won All-America honors in each of her three seasons with the program. Stone, the 2013 NCAA individual saber champion, was a four-time All-America with three national top-three finishes at the NCAA finals. While Holmes and Stone competed at the event, all three were part of the 2012-13 team that won Princeton's first joint NCAA team title. Yergler was also an NCAA individual champion, winning the epee title in 2012.
