Gracie Stone took third at the Junior World Championships' saber competition in Bulgaria.

Incoming freshman Sage Palmedo and current sophomore Gracie Stone took second and third respectively at the Junior World Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria last weekend as Princeton fencers competed in the U.S. and abroad.

Palmedo and Stone were the only Americans in the top 23 in the individual saber event, which included 93 competitors from all corners of the globe. The current and future Tigers met in one semifinal, while Hungarian Anna Marton emerged from the other semifinal to defeat Palmedo 15-8 in the final. Palmedo got past Stone 15-10 in the semis. The two Americans helped the U.S. finish third in the team saber event behind Russia and France.

Current sophomore Anna Van Brummen placed ninth overall and second among U.S. fencers in the women's epee competition, and current freshman Alex House competed in the men's team epee event as the U.S. finished 12th.

Domestically, current and former Tigers were in the April North American Cup event in Minneapolis. Current sophomore Michael Dudey took home a bronze in the Division I men's foil competition, and current junior Katharine Holmes also won bronze in the Division I women's epee event with teammate Van Brummen taking fifth, just four days after her competition in Bulgaria.

Among alumni, Jim Adams '61 took third in both the veterans 70-plus men's saber and men's foil events.
