Box Score & Play-by-Play: Game 1 | Game 2

Princeton used a walk, a Rachel Rendina single, capitalized on a Sacramento State error and used a Danielle Allen groundout to score twice in the fifth inning in game one on the way to a 3-1 win. Princeton added another on a walk and an Emily Viggers single in the sixth before Sacramento State got that run back on a single and three walks in the seventh.

In game two, Sacramento State scored all four runs in the second inning in a 4-0 win. The Hornets used three singles, a double and took advantage of a Princeton fielding error. Each team had six hits, but four of Sacramento State's six came in the decisive second inning.

Shanna Christian threw 4 1/3 shutout innings in Princeton's first-game win. She limited the Hornets to four hits before handing it off to Meredith Brown for the save.

Danielle Allen put the ball in play in the fifth inning that led to two runs and put the Tigers up 2-0 in the first game. Princeton took the game 3-1.

Sacramento State's Paige Martin had a two-run double in the second inning that gave her team a 4-0 lead in game two, a lead that the Tigers weren't able to overcome.

• Princeton had its first win over Sacramento State today after the Hornets won the first four in the series in 2006, 2008 and 2010.

• The save was the first of junior Meredith Brown's career and it came after Shanna Christian's first shutout appearance of the season.

• Shanna Christian's nine strikeouts tied a career high for the sophomore. She had nine against James Madison last season.

Princeton will head to Pacific for a 7 p.m. ET doubleheader Wednesday.
