Pre-National Invitational Web Page
PRINCETON, N.J. (10/17/13) - As the NCAA Championship returns to the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Ind., the Princeton cross country team will familiarize themselves with the course as it competes at Pre-Nationals Saturday.
This will be the first time Princeton has raced as a team on the Terre Haute course since the NCAA Championship in 2010, where it finished 15th. Two freshmen got the opportunity to race on the course that year, current seniors Marissa Cummings and Theresa Devine.
The women's 6k blue race is at 11:40 a.m., and will be streamed on FloTrack's subscription site.
A total of 50 teams will be competing in the blue race including 13 ranked teams. They include: No. 2 Florida State, No. 5 Georgetown, No. 6 Oregon, No. 11 Stanford, No. 12 Colorado, No. 14 Michigan, No. 16 Virginia, No. 18 Villanova, No. 19 Oklahoma State, No. 20 Butler, No. 21 William & Mary, No. 23 Princeton and No. 27 Penn State. The Seminoles have won the last three Pre-Nats, and four of the last five. The Tigers last win at Pre-Nats came in 2007, sharing the title with eventual national champion Stanford as Princeton won the white race and Stanford the blue.
Freshman Meghan Curham has exploded onto the scene. She has been the top runner for the Tigers in both of their races this season. She was 12th at the Notre Dame Invitational, helping to guide the team to a fifth-place finish. Senior Emily de La Bruyere was 20th as the second Tiger across the line. Senior Molly Higgins, freshman Lizzy Bird and sophomore Kathryn Little rounded out the scorers in South Bend.
