PRINCETON, N.J. (12/9/12) - The Princeton men's track &
field team opened the 2012-13 indoor season hosting the New Year's Invitational
at Jadwin Gym on Sunday, Dec. 9.
Coming out of football season, freshman John Hill picked up
his first track win with a victory in the 60-meter dash. Hill clocked a 6.93 in
his collegiate debut.
Junior Tom Hopkins won the 300 with a time of 34.31. He was
the runner-up in the long jump, reaching 7.16 (23-6.)
Two other Tigers made up the top-10 in the 300. Sophomore
Daniel McCord was third at 35.43 and senior Sebastian Steffen was eighth at
35.80. Behind Hopkins in the long jump was sophomore Stephen Soerens in sixth
place and junior Brad Pelisek in seventh.
Sophomore Rob Mohr ran an 8.33 in the 60m hurdles to place
third. Freshman Greg Caldwell was fifth at 8.42.
In the 600 junior Tom Scott ran a 1:23.06 to finish in
fourth place.
Sophomore Scott Rushton and freshman Bryan Oslin finished
fourth in their respective events. Rushton threw the shot put to 15.97
(52-4.75) and Oslin cleared 4.25 (13-11.25) in the pole vault.
Freshman Jake Scinto jumped to 2.00 (6-6.75) in the high jump
to finish in third place. Junior Omar Jarrett was fifth with a mark of 1.95
(6-4.75).
After the holidays, Princeton will compete in a dual at Navy
on Sunday, Jan. 6.
