BRONX, N.Y. (11/19/11) - Junior Mel Newbery led the Princeton women's cross country team at the ECAC Championship, placing fifth overall, in the 5k race in Van Cortlandt Park. Newbery covered the course in 17:54 to be the first Tiger to cross the line.
Sophomore Molly Higgins was 11th at 18:06. Freshman Jackie Nicholas came in at 18:24 to place 24th and sophomore Clare Gallagher was 10 seconds behind her in 37th place. Freshman Rachel Skokowski was the final scorer, with a time of 19:38.
Princeton finished sixth as a team with 139 points, just five points out of fourth place. Iona won the race, followed by La Salle and Syracuse.
Senior Alex Banfich and junior Alexis Mikaelian will run in the NCAA Championships on Monday, Nov. 21 in Terre Haute, Ind.
