Morgan Wins Two at Princeton Elite Meet

PRINCETON, N.J. (5/3/14) – Sophomore Taylor Morgan won two individual events as the Princeton women’s track & field team hosted the Elite Meet on Saturday, May 3 at Weaver Stadium.

Morgan won the high jump, clearing 1.70 (5-7) on her second attempt. She later won the shot put with a throw of 11.65 (38-2.75).

Morgan was one of three multi-event athletes, along with senior Beth McKenna and sophomore Kerry Krause that competed in a number of events today.

McKenna was second in the shot put at 10.79 (35-5) and clocked a 14.52 in the prelims of the 100 hurdles.

Krause was the runner-up in the high jump, clearing 1.65 (5-5) on her first attempt.

The trio along with senior Theresa Kennedy made up the 4x400 relay that placed third at 3:54.37. Kennedy ran 16.18 in the final of the 100 hurdles.

Princeton’s 4x100 relay of senior Lily Miller, junior Joanna Anyanwu, junior Emily Easton and senior Charquia Wright won their event at 47.36. Wright went on to take eighth in the 400 at 57.52. Anyanwu was the top Tiger in both the 100 and 200. She was fifth in the 100 at 12.28 and sixth in the 200 with a PR of 25.15

Seniors Henrietta Miers and Kacie O’Neil went 1-2 in the 800. The pair crossed the line together at 2:13.82 and 2:13.86, respectively. Sophomore Maria Seykora was fifth at 2:15.51 and junior Rachel Skokowski was seventh at 2:18.10.

Sophomore Megan McMullin was the runner-up in the 400 hurdles at 1:00.71.

In the long jump, sophomore Sara Ronde placed third with a jump of 5.28 (17-4) and freshman Alex Lanzafame was fourth at 5.27 (17-3.50).

Senior Samantha Anderson was third in the pole vault at 3.85 (12-7.50).

Senior Ashley Vandolah threw the javelin to 40.88 (134-01) to take second place and junior Sarah Waszkewitz was fifth at 3.20 (115-06).

Up next for the Tigers is the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships. The Heps will take place at Yale next weekend, May 10 & 11.
