The Princeton baseball team has added a game at No. 3 Virginia today, Thursday, Mar. 20 at 4 p.m. in Charlottesville, Va. The Tigers were originally scheduled to face Maine in a neutral sited contest at Navy, but due to inclement weather affecting travel for the Black Bears the game has been cancelled.
The Cavaliers (16-3, 5-1 ACC) are coming off a 5-3 win over Towson on Mar. 19 to extend its winning streak to five. Mike Papi leads UVa at the plate, hitting .353 (24-for-68) with 19 RBI, 18 runs, five home runs and three doubles. The rotation is headlined by Nathan Kirby’s 0.59 ERA and 5-0 record. Over 30.2 innings, he’s tossed 28 strikeouts and given up only two earned runs.
Princeton (3-8) owns the all-time series versus Virginia 35-18, including a 22-13 mark when playing on the road. The two squads last played in the 2004 NCAA Championship Regional, with Princeton earning a 4-2 win on June 5 and Virginia taking a 9-0 victory the next day.
