BOX SCORES: Princeton 3, Barton 1 l Princeton 3, Mount Olive 1

The Princeton men's volleyball team completed a Carolina sweep and ran its win streak to five matches Wednesday with a pair of victories. The Tigers defeated Barton 3-1, then followed with a 3-1 victory over host Mount Olive.

In the opener, head coach Sam Shweisky watched sophomore Zach Shaw post one of the best performances of his young career, recording 12 kills, eight digs and three blocks in a 25-18, 23-25, 25-17, 25-16 victory. Shaw hit .346, helping Princeton to an impressive .290 performance against the Conference Carolinas opponent.

Freshman Kurt Thiemann also impressed, recording 10 kills and a trio of digs. The middle duo of Ryan Poladian and Alex Schindele combined for six blocks and three kills without an error, while senior setter Davis Waddell recorded 33 assists, seven digs, five kills and three blocks.

Shweisky put the majority of his starting lineup into the nightcap, and sophomore Devin Stearns led the Tigers with 17 kills and a pair of blocks in a 25-16, 25-20, 23-25, 25-19 win over Mount Olive, which is currently second in the Conference Carolinas standings. Senior Pat Schwagler added 12 kills, while middles Will Siroky and Junior Oboh both had eight kills and four blocks apiece.

Waddell had another strong match with 50 assists, while junior libero Tony Ensbury had seven digs for the second straight match.

Princeton has now won five straight matches, but a sixth straight would have a major impact on the EIVA race. The Tigers will be off until Friday, March 28, when they head to State College for a rematch with Penn State. Princeton won the first matchup 3-2 in front of more than 1,500 people in Dillon Gym. A win would mean that every team in the EIVA would have at least two league losses and set up a wild sprint through April for the opportunity to host the conference tournament.
