Despite a comeback victory from sophomore Kyle Roddy and wins from Zach Bintliff and Ryan Callahan, the Princeton wrestling team dropped its final dual meet of the 2012 portion of the season 27-10 to Tennessee-Chattanooga Friday night at Dillon Gym.

Princeton nearly split the five matches, but the Tigers dropped a pair of overtime matches. Senior Andrew Hirai fell 8-6 in overtime to Alex Ward at 133, and freshman Scott Gibbons fell in a 184-pound marathon to Robert Prigmore 9-8.

After dropping the first three decisions, Princeton got to within 9-4 with a 14-4 major from Bintliff, who has now won two straight matches. Roddy followed with an impressive 9-7 victory over Trey Stavrum at 157; after trailing 5-0 early, Roddy battled back to inspire the home crowd while getting Princeton back within two points.

Callahan also rallied from an early hole, overcoming a takedown to defeat Jake Youn 3-2 at 174. Prigmore held off Gibbons, the Princeton wins leader, with a 9-8 overtime win, and Chattanooga capped the match with a pair of falls to close the 27-10 win.

Princeton will now be off until Dec. 29, when it heads to Northwestern for the 50th Midlands Championships. Last year, Tiger sophomore Adam Krop made a national name for himself with a third-place finish at 141.
