Women’s lightweight head coach Paul Rassam knew that the 2012 season would be a rebuilding campaign for the Tigers, and he believes that his program will be far stronger in the next few years.

To bolster both the present and the future of the program, Rassam brought in an experienced coach to assist him.

Hank Zimmerman, the former head coach of the Georgetown women’s lightweight team, has joined Rassam for the 2012-13 season. He replaces Tom Paulett, who helped guide the novice four last year to an impressive silver medal at Eastern Sprints.

Prior to Georgetown, Zimmerman was an assistant coach for the both the men’s and women’s rowing programs at Franklin and Marshall College. While at Franklin and Marshall, he received his masters in education from Millersville University.

“We are very excited to have Hank contribute to our program,” Rassam said. “He will be an asset for both our young walk-on rowers as well as our veterans. I look forward to working together with him towards the goal of maintaining Princeton’s position as one of the premier lightweight programs in the country.”

Zimmerman graduated from Ithaca College in 2009, where he walked onto the rowing team with no experience.

“I am extremely excited to join the Princeton lightweight team and work with Paul,” Zimmerman said. “Princeton is one of the best universities in the country and I am honored to be part of the rowing program’s tradition.”
