Sonnenfeldt, Shanley and Schreiber Lead Princeton Past Manhattan 14-8
MANHATTAN, N.Y. (2/15/14) - Without Forest Sonnenfeldt and Tucker Shanley the 2013 Princeton men's lacrosse team struggled all season to find offensive depth. The duo, now healthy, gave Princeton exactly what it was missing a year ago.
Sonnenfeldt scored three goals and Shanley added two, as Princeton defeated Manhattan 14-8 on a frozen night at Gaelic Park. With its two senior big men back, Princeton built a 13-3 lead after three quarters.
Tom Schreiber had a goal and four assists, and now has 80 goals and 79 assists for his career. He needs one more assist to join Jon Hess and Dave Heubeck as the only Princeton players ever to reach at leastr 80 goals and 80 assists.
No. 9 Princeton is now 2-0 on the young season, while Manhattan is 0-4. The Tigers are 5-0 all-time against the Jaspers.
Will Rotatori started the scoring two minutes into the game, and it was 5-0 Princeton at the end of the first quarter as five different players scored.
Princeton hosts No. 5 Johns Hopkins this Saturday, March 1 at noon on Sherrerd Field at Class of 1952 Stadium.
