Arroyo Yamin & McDonald Named Capital One Academic All-District

PRINCETON, N.J. (5/29/14) - Senior Alejandro Arroyo Yamin and junior Matt McDonald have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Track & Field Team it was announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Thursday, May 29.

Arroyo Yamin is both a three-time U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) all-academic selection and a three-time Academic All-Ivy League honoree. He has qualified for the NCAA Regional all four years, in either in the 5k or 10k, and has competed in three NCAA cross country national championships, guiding the team to 11th-, 19th- and 22nd-place finishes. Arroyo Yamin earned three cross country all-region honors and was the Ivy League runner-up in 2012 to earn first-team All-Ivy League honors, while claiming second-team honors in 2013 as team co-captain. He was the Ivy League runner-up in the 2012 indoor distance medley relay and has been a scorer in the outdoor 10k in 2011, 2012 and 2013.

McDonald has competed in two NCAA cross country national championships, finishing 134th in 2013 and 151st in the 2012. He was named USTFCCCA all-region in 2013 for finishing 20th at the Mid-Atlantic regional. McDonald claimed second-team All-Ivy League honors in both 2011 and 2012. During the indoor track season, McDonald was a scorer in the 5k and outdoors he was seventh in both the 5k and 10k.

The duo moves on to the national ballot with the Academic All-America being announced in mid-June.
