Women's Track & Field Wins Three Events at TCNJ Invite

EWING, N.J. (4/26/14) - The Princeton women’s track & field team won three events at the Lions Invitational on the campus of The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) on Saturday, April 26.

Senior Henrietta Miers won the 800, besting 59 others with a time 2:14.67. Sophomore Summer Hanson was second at 2:16.87 and junior Rachel Skokowski was ninth at 2:23.93.

Senior Samantha Anderson and freshman Allison Harris finished in a three-way tie for first place in the pole vault. Both cleared 3.50, while senior Sara Rubin was fourth with a PR of 3.20, surpassing her previous best of 3.05.

The triple jump win was awarded to senior Imani Oliver. Oliver leapt to 12.39 for the win while freshman Alex Lanzafame was fourth with a jump of 11.47.

The Tigers posted up in the long jump, going 2-3-4-6-7-10. Senior Lily Miller was the runner up at 5.53, with Lanzafame taking third at 5.46 and Rubin fourth at 545. Sophomore Inka Busack recorded a 5.26 for sixth, freshman Ariel Becker 5.18 for seventh and sophomore Kerry Krause had a PR of 5.14 for 10th.

Busack was the runner-up in the high jump, clearing 1.66. Senior Theresa Kennedy placed third clearing 1.61.

In the sprints, senior Charquia Wright clocked a 12.59 in the 100 to take sixth and Miller was eighth at 12.75. In the 100 hurdles, senior Beth McKenna was fifth at 14.95 and sophomore Taylor Morgan was ninth at 15.56.

Freshman Jessica Ackerman was the top Tiger in the 1500. She ran a 4:44.33 to finish in fifth place in her first time running the event for Princeton. Classmate Alexandra Markovich right behind her in sixth place at 4:44.48.

Senior Chelsea Cioffi was second in the hammer throw and eighth in the discus. Cioffi was the top collegiate in the hammer, throwing a PR of 48.61, while she threw the discus to 38.11. Sophomore Brielle Rowe was sixth in the discus at 39.95 and 10th in the hammer at 39.97.

Finally in the javelin, junior Sarah Waszkewitz placed fourth throwing to 36.20.

Princeton will compete in one final meet before the Ivy League Heptagonal. The Tigers host the Elite Meet next Saturday, May 3 at Weaver Stadium.
