PROVIDENCE, R.I. (3/8/14) - A 23-game series win streak has come to an end as the No. 16-ranked Princeton women's lacrosse team lost to Brown 14-13 in overtime at Stevenson Field.

Down by four at halftime, the Bears used a 6-0 run to take a 13-11 lead. Princeton (1-3, 0-1 Ivy League) scored twice in the final three minutes to tie the game 13-13 and force overtime.

Brown (4-0, 2-0 Ivy League) won all three draws in overtime, held for the last shot, scoring with 32 seconds left, before winning the last draw to hold on for the win, its first against Princeton since 1991.

It was an Ivy League opener that saw eight lead changes and seven ties.

Brown jumped out to a 3-1 lead but Princeton settled down and notched two-in-a-row to tie the game at 3-3. A 4-1 run by the Tigers over the next four minutes gave them their first lead of the game, 5-4 with 10 minutes gone in the first half.

The Bears respoonded with three goals in 31 seconds to regain the lead 7-5.

Princeton got goals from six different players as it ended the first on a hot 6-0 run to close the half with a four-goal lead, 11-7.

Brown wouldn't go away though as it storm back with a 7-0 run to open the second half, slowing chipping away at its deficit and then taking a 13-11 with 9:42 remaining.

Princeton struggled to get the ball past goalie Kellie Roddy who made nine saves on nine shots. The Tigers had six free-position attempts in that final 9:42 with three shots off target and two saved.

Senior Mary-Kate Sivilli found a crack with 2:08 to play with her third goal of the game. A draw control win by junior Erin McMunn helped Princeton get possession to score the game-tying goal as freshman Anna Doherty scored in on a free-position attempt with 1:07 remaining.

Neither team would get a shot off in the final minute and the game was sent into overtime.

Danielle Mastro led the Bears offensively with six points on four goals and two assists. Lauren Troy had three goals and one assist and Bre Hudgins scored three times.

Alexandra Bruno had a four-point game with three goals and one assist. Sivilli scored three goals and Doherty had a goal and two assists. Senior Caroline Franke started in goal and made three saves in the first 44:05 before junior Annie Woehling took her place between the pipes. Woehling made one stop in the final 21:55.

Princeton had a 32-25 advantage in shots but it was the play of Roddy in net in the second half that gave her team the win as she finished the game with 13 stops.

Princeton hosts No. 8 Virginia on Saturday, March 15 at noon.
