On the eve of their Ivy League championship weekends, sophomores Teo D'Alessandro (men's swimming) and Julia Ratcliffe (women's track & field) join senior Tom Hopkins (men's track & field) on the latest edition of TigerCast.
D'Alessandro leads the five-time defending Ivy League champion Tigers into this weekend's Men's Swimming & Diving Championships, held Thursday-Saturday at Harvard. The Princeton record holder in both the 200 and 400 IM, D'Alessandro was part of a loaded Class of 2016 that helped push the Tigers to the 2013 crown.
Ratcliffe is from New Zealand, but a remarkable recruiting process helped land her at Princeton, where she won an Ivy League individual title last year in the outdoor Heptagonals. She will look for her first indoor title this weekend, when both the women's and men's teams head to Hanover for the 2014 Indoor Heptagonal Championships.
While both D'Alessandro and Ratcliffe will have more championship events in years to come, Hopkins is competing in his final Indoor Heps this weekend, and he'd like nothing more than to avenge last year's one-point loss to Cornell in the team meet. Hopkins, both a former individual and relay champion at Heps, serves as captain for the Tigers.
TigerCast, presented by PNC Bank, is the official podcast of Princeton Athletics. Previous episodes of TigerCast can be downloaded for free anytime at GoPrincetonTigers.com.
