The Princeton wrestling team is beginning its stretch run towards the 2014 EIWA Championships, and the Tigers have the opportunity to pick up a trio of wins this weekend when they head to New England for a two-day, three-match event.

Princeton will open competition Saturday at 3 pm against Ivy League rival Harvard, and will take on EIWA newcomer Boston University at 6 pm. On Sunday, Princeton will be in Providence for a noon showdown against the Brown Bears. Both the Harvard and Brown matches will be video streamed live on the Ivy League Digital Network (see link above).

The Tigers are off to their best dual start in years, winning five of their first seven matches, including road wins at Hofstra and Binghamton. Last weekend, the Tigers earned a 34-10 home win over Franklin & Marshall before falling 37-6 to the sixth-ranked Cornell Big Red.

Princeton already has a trio of 20-match winners this season, including junior Adam Krop, a 2012 NCAA qualifier who leads the team with 21 victories. Both sophomore Judd Ziegler (165) and freshman Brett Harner (184) have 20 wins this season, while sophomore Abe ayala (197) could hit the 20-win mark with a perfect weekend.

While those four lead Princeton in wins, it was the duo of senior Ryan Callahan (174) and freshman Ray O'Donnell (285) who were unbeaten last weekend. Callahan, an EIWA placewinner last season, is 15-6 and is riding a nine-match win streak. O'Donnell moved up from 197 to heavyweight over the last month and earned both a fall and a major decision last Saturday.

While Saturday's match is in Boston, Princeton may feel like it has the advantage. The road team has won this dual match five straight years, including a 27-6 Harvard win last year and a 25-14 Tiger win at Harvard in 2012. The Crimson is currently 3-3 on the season, and its only Ivy match was a loss at Cornell.

Following the Crimson match, the Tigers will take on Boston University. The Terriers are 3-7 this season, though they have won two of their last three, including a 17-16 victory over Rider.

Brown (1-6, 0-1 Ivy) has won two straight matches over Princeton, including a 20-12 win in Dillon Gym last season. The Bears are coming off their first win of the season, a 34-3 victory over Sacred Heart.

Following this weekend, Princeton will return to Dillon Gym for a Feb. 14 showdown against Columbia.
