PRINCETON, N.J. (11/26/13) - Sophomore Cristin Shanahan scored the game-tying goal as the Princeton women's hockey skated to a 1-1 tie with No. 8 Quinnipiac on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at Hobey Baker Rink.

Shanahan's goal was short-handed, coming at 12:55 of the third period, just 18 seconds after a Princeton player was dealt a five-minute major. The boarding call at 12:27, Quinnipiac would have the extra skater for five of the final 7:44 of the game. Freshman Cassidy Tucker got the play rolling when she dug the puck off the boards just to the right of Kimberly Newell and split her defenders with a shovel pass to Shanahan just across the blue line. Shanahan skated in unimpeded and fired past Chelsea Laden.

Quinnipiac (10-2-5, 3-2-4) took the lead at 14:26 of the first period on goal by Shiann Darkangelo. Lindsey West chased down a loose puck behind the Bobcats goal and found Kelly Babstock. Babstock took the puck down the length of the ice and dished off to Darkangelo just inside the offensive end. She fired a shot that hit the right shoulder of Newell and caromed into the back of the net.

Princeton's Denna Laing and Hilary Lloyd had the team's best chances for the winner in overtime as the pair had back-to-back bids with Laden making the quick stops. Newell came up big on the other end with five saves, the most notable being a save at the near post on a shot by Babstock.

Newell finished the game with 34 saves, while Laden stopped 26 shots.

Princeton now 5-4-2 overall and 4-4-1 in league play, heads West to play a pair of games at No. 1 Minnesota this weekend, Nov. 30 & Dec. 1.
