Senior Michael Franklin of the men's track & field team has been named the GoPrincetonTigers.com Athlete of the Week for the week ending May 5.
Franklin won the 10k on the first day of Heps and followed up with a win in the 5k on the second day. Franklin clocked a 29:46.77 in the 10k, an event he ran just one other time this season. He was .33 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. He ran 14:10.85 in the 5k, winning by .18, with his best time of the season. Like the 10k, Franklin had run the 5k just one other time this season. His 20 points helped Princeton won the Ivy League Heptagonal Championship, the team's third consecutive outdoor title and 15th overall.
Franklin was named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association National Athlete of the Week Honor Roll for his efforts.
