Cabral Named a Semifinalist for The Bowerman
Donn Cabral has been named one of 10 semifinalists for The Bowerman award, it was announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday, June 18.
The Bowerman Advisory Board will now deliberate who shall be the three finalists for the awards and make the announcement on Friday, June 29.
An eight-time All-America, Cabral won the NCAA title in the steeplechase in time of 8:35.44. He completed an undefeated season in the event. Along the way he posted a personal best time of 8:19.41, an American collegiate record as well as the Olympic A qualifying standard. Cabral is Princeton's first individual track national champion since 1934.
A two-time Most Outstanding Performer of the Meet at Heptagonals, Cabral is a six-time Ivy League champion. In addition he has anchored three championships at the Penn Relays in the distance medley relay and the 4xmile twice.
Cabral in the first in Princeton and Ivy League history to be named a semifinalist for The Bowerman.
