Day 1 Recap
ORLANDO, Fla. (3/24/12) - Sophomore Damon McLean won the triple jump to highlight the final day of the University of Central Florida Invitational for the Princeton men's track & field team on Saturday, March 4.
McLean reached 15.75 (51-8.25) on his fourth attempt to win the triple. Senior Garner McCloud was third with a jump of 14.76 (48-5.25) and freshman Nana Owusu-Nyantekyi was fifth with a mark of 14.60 (47-11).
In the shot put, senior Patrick Park took fourth and freshman Scott Rushton was eighth. Park threw to 16.15 (53) while Rushton reached 15.59 (51-1.75).
After setting an Ivy League and Princeton record yesterday in the hammer throw, sophomore Conor McCullough tried his hand at the discus. McCullough threw to 46.63 (153) to place sixth.
Junior Richard Sheldon was sixth in the 110-meter hurdles at 14.88 and freshman Rob Mohr was seventh at 14.97. In the 400-meter hurdles Nilan Schnure ran 56.44 to take ninth. Sheldon, Schnure along with freshman Stephen Soerens and sophomore Brad Pelisek ran the 4x400 in 3:27.71 to finish sixth in the event.
The 4x100 relay of senior Ivan Charbonneau, junior Sebastian Steffean, freshman Daniel McCord and sophomore Tom Hopkins placed fifth with a time of 41.46.
In the 100, freshman William Egi ran 10.79 to take ninth.
The Tigers will race in the Raleigh Relays next weekend March 30-31.
