Courtesy: Princeton Athletic CommunicationsORLANDO, Fla. (3/23/12) - Sophomore Conor McCullough set an Ivy League and school record while senior Donn Cabral set a Monmouth facility record as the Princeton men's track & field team opened the 2012 outdoor season on Friday, March 23.
At the University of Central Florida Invitational, McCullough set an Ivy League record in the hammer throw at 71.47 (234-06) throwing 5.66 (18-7) further than the runner up. McCullough already owned the record for a throw of 70.79 (232-03) from 2010.
Sophomore Damon McLean was the runner-up in the long jump. He launched himself to 7.43 (24-4.50) on his fifth attempt, just half an inch out of first place.
The distance runners ran in the Twilight Mile at the Monmouth Invitational. Cabral ran 4:00.96. Senior Trevor Van Ackeren ran 4:04.47, sophomore Chris Bendtsen ran 4:06.38 and sophomore Alejandro Arroyo Yamin ran 4:07.74 to join Cabral on the facilities all-time performance list with personal bests.
Five others ran 4:12 or faster in the mile, including freshman Bradley Paternostro at 4:09.10, sophomore Michael Williams at 4:09.79, sophomore Tyler Udland at 4:10.01, senior Thomas Dialynas at 4:10.07 and freshman Connor Martin at 4:11.77.
The Tigers will wrap up the UCF Invitational tomorrow.
