SACRAMENTO, Calif. (6/26/14) - Seven athletes with ties to Princeton University will compete at the US Track & Field Championships beginning today in Sacramento.

Joe Stilin '12 competes in the men's 5000 on Friday at 9:25. Stilin qualified with a 13:34.19, the 9th best time of those entered. Stilin currently is a member of ZAP Fitness Reebok.

Fellow distance runner and latest graduate Chris Bendtsen '14 heads back out West after recently taking ninth in the NCAA championship 10k earlier this month. Bendtsen's time of 28:49.08 ranks him 14th in the group. Bendtsen's race is at 9 p.m., tonight.

2012 NCAA steeplechase national champion Donn Cabral '12 will have company in this year's race, as he will be joined by Eddie Owens '15. The pair is the most recent NCAA steeplechase competitors for the Tigers, as Owens ran the race in Eugene earlier this month. It was at this meet during the 2012 Olympic season that Cabral qualified for the Olympic team and still holds the American collegiate steeplechase record. He runs on behalf of Nike. The semifinal of the steeple is on Friday at 6:22, with 14 advancing to the final on Saturday.

Another Princeton steepler is Ashley Higginson '11, running for Saucony. Higginson was a member of the 2013 World Championship team after finishing second at this meet a year ago. In 2012 she missed making the Olympic team by 2.4 seconds, taking fourth as an alternate. The women's steeple is tonight at 7:50, with the final on Friday.

Former fellow steepler Carrie Dimoff '05 will be taking on the 10k at this year's meet. A member of the Bowerman Track Club she clocked a 32:51.40 to qualify.

Cecilia Barowski '16 who returns to Princeton in the fall will run in the 800. She qualified with a 2:03.87. The first round is today at 4:15 with the top 16 advancing to the semifinals on Friday.
