PRINCETON, N.J. (3/13/14) - Senior All-America Michael Williams will run for the national title in the men's mile this weekend at the 2014 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship in Albuquerque.

A NCAA national champion, Williams was a member of Princeton's distance medley relay that captured the NCAA title last year. Williams was the lead-off runner, in the 1200 meter leg. Additionally, Williams has two Penn Relay Championship of America titles. He has previously qualified for the NCAA East Regional (outdoor) in the 800 twice. Williams owns two Princeton school records, in the DMR and the 4x800.

The semifinal will be the first track event at 6 p.m. (MT) on Friday, March 14. The mile will be run in two heats of eight. Williams, in bib #545, will run in heat 2. The top four in each heat plus the next two fastest times advance to the final, to be held at 6 p.m. (MT) on Saturday, March 15.

The championships will be streamed on ESPN3 with a tape delay airing on Saturday, March 22 on ESPNU at 6:30 p.m.

The collegiate record holder in the event Lawi Lalang is back to defend his title after winning the event in an NCAA meet record in 2013. His collegiate record time is 3:52.88. Lalang is one of two that competed in the event last year, as Oregon’s Mac Fleet returns.

It’s the second straight year that a Princetonian will run the mile. Joe Stilin ’12 closed out his indoor eligibility at Texas and ran the mile. He finished 11th overall at 4:02.04.
