PRINCETON, N.J. (3/12/12) - Junior Peter Callahan and senior Donn Cabral of the Princeton men's track & field team have been named the GoPrincetonTigers.com Athletes of the Week, presented by CoachUSA, for the week ending March 11.Callahan finished sixth in the mile and Cabral was eighth in the 5,000 at the 2012 NCAA Division I Indoor Championships.
Callahan finished with a time of 4:02.66, exactly one second behind the national champion. Callahan would earn three points in the event in his first NCAA championship.
Callahan's teammate and captain Donn Cabral finished eighth in the 5,000-meter run on Friday.
The six-time All-America Cabral ran 13:53.14 in a race that featured the 15 best 5,000-meter runners in the nation had set an NCAA meet record.
This is the third time Cabral has run the 5,000 in the NCAA championships. All three times he earned points for the Tigers, finishing in the top eight each time.
The duo becomes the program's third pair to finish in the top 10 in their respective events at the NCAA indoor championship in the same season. They join Alex Pessala (weight) & Justin Frick (high jump) from 2009, Torra Harris (1st) and Josh McCaughey (9th) from 2002.
