INDIVIDUAL MATCH RESULTS

A comeback overtime victory for freshman Kevin Moylan and a strong effort by senior co-captain Zach Bintliff were the lone victories for the Princeton wrestling team in a 30-6 road loss at in-state rival Rutgers Saturday night.

While the team score was decisive, there were a handful of close matches that went Rutgers' way, including three matches by two points or fewer. Freshmen Scott Gibbons and Judd Ziegler both lost by two points apiece, while sophomore Kyle Roddy nearly upset former EIWA finalist Scott Winston before falling by one point.

Rutgers took control of the match early with six straight wins, but Moylan stopped that streak with a comeback win at 141. His opponent, Trevor Melde, scored a takedown in the first and an escape in the second to lead 3-0 entering the third period. Moylan chose neutral in the third and scored a pair of takedowns to force overtime. In the extra session, he scored his third takedown to claim the win and get Princeton on the scoreboard.

Bintliff carried that momentum into his match at 149 and scored on an early takedown, but Ken Theobold would eventually grab a lead in the second period. Bintliff bounced back and scored both takedown and near fall points in both the second and third period to earn an 11-4 win.

Roddy nearly scored a shocker at 157 over senior EIWA finalist and four-time New Jersey state champion Scott Winson. He scored a takedown in the first period and a reversal in the second to grab a 4-1 lead, but Winston had a reversal of his own to cut the score to 4-3 entering the third. Winston recorded the only takedown of the third to finish a 5-4 victory over his gritty opponent.

Ziegler was close to forcing overtime in the finale, but Anthony Volpe recorded a takedown with 18 seconds remaining to close a 3-1 win.

Princeton will return to Dillon Gym Friday night to take on Chattanooga in the final home match of the 2012 portion of the schedule.
